A Mommy Makeover In 15 Minutes

Have you ever wished you had a Fairy Godmother that would wave her wand and — POOF! — with one swirl of magic dust you could walk out the door looking like Cinderella ready for the ball? Me too! I feel your pain!

As moms, we often sacrifice our time to get the kiddos looking cute, but I want to say stop the madness. You too can look your best without sacrificing hours in front of the mirror. As a professional makeup artist (and a semi-professional mom of two beautiful girls) I have compiled my Top 5 tips that will help you get ready in a jiffy.

  1. Prep: Always cleanse. add a serum and moisturize prior to any makeup application. Starting with a clean face helps any makeup look and feel better. Don’t forget to add brightening eye cream to help hide the fact you had a toddler sleeping
    on your head all night.
  2. Prime: I cannot stress enough how important a good primer
is. Choose a primer based on your skin type. Prime your face and eyelids to keep all the creases at bay and oil under control. I prefer one that blurs and smooths texture, which gives you a flawless finish when you apply your foundation and keeps your makeup in place through long work days or play dates.
  3. Perfect: This is a multi-step tip, but it doesn’t have to be time-consuming once you get the hang of it. AI foundation: Choose a foundation based on your skin type. If you have oily skin, go for a matte liquid that is long wearing. Those with dry skin should choose a foundation that is hydrating and lightweight. If you have combo skin, you can go either way.
BI set: Always set any liquid foundation with a lightweight powder for staying power. The powder keeps it all in place.
CI Contour: Now I know I just said that “bad word,” but contouring is NOT scary and NOT hard to do! Simply use concealer to highlight and a bronzer and darker contour color to shape your face. Light stays in the center of the face and the darker powder or cream shapes the outer parts of the face (i.e. hairline, under the cheekbones and the concave of the cheek). Add a bit of highlighter to those cheekbones to soften the look and give some glam to this 15-minute makeup marathon.
DI BLUSH: Add a pretty pop of color to the apples of your cheeks fanning up onto the cheekbones. This step will keep you looking fresh and more awake than you actually are.
